
Regarding photography, I am still learning more about digital and different analogue practices, and other than traditional photographic practices, I am also exploring collaging, printmaking, cyanotypes… I think always learning is definitely a direction of evolution I am going forward, especially in building a stronger voice that allows two-dimensional images to speak to the audiences. We will virtually go behind-the-scenes with an aquarist to meet the Caribbean species who live in this 200,000-gallon habitat, and the diving and other. But these labels at the same time are what's influencing and motivating me to create. However, I would say being a person of color, a student in this country holding an f-1 visa, self-defined as queer, puts me into a social box that I try to break through with my work, as art can be beyond these labels.

I tend to enjoy exploring different topics and not to be set on one thing. Is there an arc in your past or current work? And that’s when I started to prioritize voice.

Later on, when I am officially exposing to different kind of photographic method and alternative processes, I started to draw attention to how to present my voice and how to shoot photos that fully take advantages of the format, medium, and people. I prioritized personal engagement, emotions, and relationships over the quality of photos. When I first start to shoot portraitures, I was prioritizing the feelings (mostly happiness) at the moment while I am with my friends and having a good time. This attitude helps me to engage in the photographic experience with my surroundings. In terms of taking photos, I think the most important aspect is to be sincere, honest, and truthful with my feelings and with people who I am shooting with.
